BBSST Letter To Parents

Dear Parents

Cedar Hill Elementary would like to make the parents and students aware of a unique support group. The group is called the Building Based Student Support Team (BBSST). The team is a school-based, problem-solving group that meets once a month to discuss issues related to specific needs of teachers and students and offers teachers assistance in resolving problems. The team at Cedar Hill is composed of teachers from different grade levels, an administrator, and our counselor.

If students are having difficulties in the classroom or at school, teachers refer them to the BBSST for consideration for extra help. If the student is considered for additional help, a plan is written and followed for a minimum of thirty days. The plan may include, but is not limited to:

*Curriculum strategies and intervention

*Alternative instructional strategies

*Behavior management plans

*Crisis intervention

*Conferences with family members, healthcare professionals, or agency

representatives

*Referral for additional evaluation

Based on the progress of the student, the BBSST will make decisions related to continuation of the accommodations or changing the accommodations. The BBSST has been very successful in bringing about needed improvement.

The BBSST is just one way we are attempting to help our students at Cedar Hill. Please let us know if you have questions of concerns.
